Default FG Mk2 Falcon radio

Has anyone mounted an external antenna/aerial to getter better radio reception?
I live in the Adelaide Hills and have horrible static/poor reception driving between the hills and the City.
Want to know if it will improve the reception before I get a hole made in the roof to mount one. Have tried a different head unit (Pioneer) and made no difference, so gone back to the stock unit.
Thanks

There's probably no reason you couldn't retrofit the Ute roof mounted antenna as the parts would be easy enough to obtain. Whether it provides better reception is a different question but I never had issues in mine and I'm further away from broadcasters than you are in the Hills.

Cheers
