this happened to me when u stop the revs drop and almost stall then go up then down and once it even stalled on me. this solved my problem take off the air intake from the throttle body and spray some throttle body cleaner in there and give it a clean. my had some black gunk in it.

My ute did this after being parked up for a while, took it on a long drive and problem solved...i'm guessing it was a bit of carbon build up on the plugs or something similar

engine type would help
but it sound's like vaccuume leak
intake gasget (moreso v type config)
split rubber plumbing,maf,map,gearbox,egr
listen for a weak whistle(around manifold,and plumbing)
