News coming through this morning that F1 legend Michael Shumacher is in a critical condition in hospital after a ski accident this morning.
Apparently he hit his head on a rock and even though he was wearing a helmet, things don't look good. Best wishes to Michael & hope he pulls through this.

Wow, even before this news it has not been a good year to be a race car driver.
Alan Simmonsen, Paul Walker (Who actually raced a few 24hr enduros), and I thought of 1 or 2 more before I started this post but now have escaped me.

Mixed reports coming. His personal assistant is saying the injuries are non critical. The resort where he was injured are reporting he is stable, but reports more recently are stating he is in a coma.
From the hospital. A statement issued by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Grenoble explained that the German suffered a "head trauma with coma that required immediate neurosurgical treatment." Not good.

It's the middle of the night over there now, so unless something drastic happens there won't be anything new for a few hours yet.....and hopefully when there is something new, it will be good news....

I must say I am a huge Shuey fan from way back when he was with bennetton & won the title with that little Ford V8 against the might of the V10 Williams, Mclaren's & Ferrari's.
One thing we all know is that Shuey is a fighter & I hope that fight will pull him through this.. They are saying the next update won't come through untill 9.00 pm tonight.

Have been watching since his arrival at Jordan....Now I'm praying for win number 93. Terrible news. Hoping to see him come through soon! |

I'm a huge fan too, this is sad news.
Ironic that his entire F1 career was mainly incident free, and then something like this happens.

Bugger. Heard it on the radio this morning but they didn't really mention the severity of the injury. Hope he pulls through.

Also the incident he caused in 01 @ hokenheim when he couldn't get off the line and Luciano Burti in a prost went flying over the top of him landing on another car. Hardly incident free! |

I hope he pulls thru. Too many motorsport personalities getting injured or losing their lives this year.

If you don't like him for that reason, that's fine but sounds like you don't give a stuff if he lives or dies.
