budget over 1k for the xr front end on the ghia as for resale have a look at what the au and el "ghia vs xr" price differences to give you an idea.

all the NA 6 share the same motor. if you want an auto go the ghia if you want a manual and thinking about performance go the xr

An XR will always have better resale than the base/luxury models. No difference in performance: both have same engines and diff ratios.

XR has a more 'hardcore' sports suspension whereas the ghia has luxury sports suspension.

Unless it's manual than the XR is slightly quicker.

I'd go for the XR6 with the optional Luxury Pack for obvious reasons! That way you get the best of both worlds; the "sportiness" of the XR and the luxury of a Ghia.

i was having the same conflict.

I went the GHIA because it basically had everything the XR6 had and more.

The insurance is what did it for me. Best qoute on XR was about 700, I got the GHIA fully insured for 380 with Budget and I'm only 27.

It's like driving a limo, you won't regret a GHIA

Check the AWC link in the sponsors list above as they will have front bars for the XR's.

Let us know how you go with the purchase and the drive.

If its a BF2 get the Ghia for Gods sake! If its a BA, BA2 or BF1 then go the XR6.

The only difference is the LSD, Ghia and XR6 suspension are the same.

XR6 has it standard, the Ghia doesn't.

Actually they might have even taken it off the options list, atleast I remember something said about that.

We have an AU3 ghia, it's suspension certainly is not sporty has claimed a few posts above, my advice is to go the ghia and wack in a set of low kings, just low and not superlow.

and akira101 I'd advise ditching budget direct insurance, I modified the ED with low king springs and they refused to RENEW my current insurance policy Of which I had 2 cars on the ED and AU3, told me whilst on mobile phone driving to park it where it was until I arranged other insurance. You can imagine how p... I was. told me my policy was void from that moment on, when I was miles from home.
I am over 30 and never had an at fault accident and they still refused me, budget insurance is aimed at low risk old grandpa's, so be careful withit.

Ghia lost LSD as standard with AU.

With BA it hasn't even been an option.

Tough choice!

If you could get hold of a 5.4 3V Ghia, then definantly the Ghia. There's just something about a V8 Fairmont that floats my boat.

But if it's 6 for 6, I'd grab the XR6...or the Ghia...
