Default New Shell V-Power Ultimate=KRAP?

Just wondering what you boys though about the V-POWER Ultimate with 100 octane, although theres a catch. It contains 5% ethanol.

Whould you use it?

I've used it once and didn't notice the enthanol % until i filled up!!

On my first tank, seems good so far...

Don't care about the ethanol... supporting cane farmers.

used it once and never again ethenol is supposed to make the petrol cheaper, they have the nerve to make it 10-15cpl more expensive. certainly not worth it

I use V-Power Racing (Optimax Extreme) in my TS50 with no problems at all. If I can't get it for whatever reason then I use BP's Ultimate. I honestly cannot pick a difference between the 2 fuels at all in any instance, be it driving around town or giving it heaps at the track.

I have been using it for over 12 month now with great results.
Although it isnt Shell V power, its the same thing, 98+E =100
I find it works well in my T3.

Why do you suggest it is 'crap'?
I have had no issues in the last two tank fulls that I've put into the XR8.
The fact it contains ethanol doesn't worry me either.

filled it up for the first time on thursday. no difference sofar, but will wait and see how far i get with the tank before i make a final judgement.

Put it in an XR5 Turbo, made a fair difference from 95 PULP. Was impressed. Pulled noticably harder.

Dont think i'd bother with it in my XR6 though. Cost outweighs any benefits.

I'm all for it. Personally I couldnt tell any difference b/w V-power and optimax.

Having said that, the price SHOULD be less if it contains ethanol, considering that was the WHOLE POINT of using local stuff.

Best pump fuel Ive ever used,at 11.8 comp the higher octane is a blessing.
Got me stumped why you'd use any premium in a standard car though?
especially this,I dont in my other two cars..
I doubt youd notice any power improvement in a factory low comp car.

I've noticed a improvement in response and smoothness when usen in our supercharged Merc (C200K). It took 2-3 tanks to set in though. Also, before using V-Power racing, we used BP Ultimate and always noticed a strong, unpleasant odour from the exaust, especially when cold. Didn't smell when we switched to V-Power racing.

Is your car modded,not just bolt ons/exhaust,but computer/internal mods?
If not Im not suprised it dont work on your car,an engine will work right with a fuel that is right for IT.in some this means a lower rated fuel.
Higher octane will make less power in some factory cars,regardless of petrol company hype,In the AUII I had, standard unleaded was all it needed.

Is it OK to use in older Fords? I have Earl's braided fuel lines and a Holley mechanical pump. Carb is a 750VAC. Is the ethanol likely to cause problems?

I havent seen a problem with it,the ethanol content is only 5%,I think you can buy ethanol friendly seals and gaskets though.

Seems strange to me,as I used standard ULP in the AU no problem,I also havent noticed any difference between fuels in my stock XD or Hilux.
Maybe the computer has "learned" and adjusted timing-A/F ratio etc,for this fuel? if this is the case it will take a few tank fulls to "re-learn"

i think its crap, i hate ethanol in fuel, as i drive a carby car, it throws out the mixture which is a total pain in the a$$, iv used it once, and will never use it again....
it would be great if they could make 100 octane fuel that doesnt have ethanol! because that would benifit my engine.... more power the better i say :P

i use either freedom fuels 98+ethanol, or straight caltex 98.

I tend to go for the 98-e blend coz of the local industry.

If you tuned and ran it exclusively with the V-Power Racing fuel wouldn't it fix the mixture problems?

Last time I looked mine had a carb,it throws nothing out,get yourself an engine worth putting in this stuff and then make your mind up..

I've used United Boost 98 in the past. And I noticed similar performance to using other 98RON fuels. But the catch is I was using on avg 1.5L/100 more. So the small saving in Cents/Litre was burnt up by extra fuel being used. I suspect the same thing can be said about using V-Power 100 Ultimate over non ethonal based 98RON fuels. Then again Optimax isn't as consistant in its octane ratings as other brand fuels. So I stay clear of it. My LS1 is tuned for 98 so I don't like running it on shitty fuels.

Can't use any ethanol fuels in Fiesta's. Any problems and no warranty. Thats from FORD.

My Fiesta is JAN 2005 build, previous model. Maybe the latest model can run on ethanol. But mine cann't and that's from FORD. Makes things difficult when manufacturers change build criteria between models.

I haven't bought fuel from Shell since they introduced "Shel Half-Lead"

which with a single tankfull destroyed the cylinder head
on my then 6 cyl XD Fairmont ghia

CSV8 the engines are identical in the WQ and WP (Old and new models). While I havn't checked for E10 compatibility which it should be able to handle. The engine can 100% run on 5% ethanol as can ALL european cars owing to European regulations.
