Default Van stories

Hello everyone,
I'm preparing a book on vans and van culture, centred on the '70s boom, so would love to hear any and all stories of your vans. Any era, but no fiction, please. Good times, wild times, why you're interested in vans, which ones turn you on ... the sort of stories you swap with friends when you get together for a drink. This is a genuine request. I have been a professional motoring writer since the early 1980s, and have been planning this book for ages.

It should be completed by early next year. I already have all the technical/historical/marketing info from the car companies, and now am looking for stories from van owners etc to give it a human side.

Names/addresses do not have to be used, but obviously I and the readers will be more inclined to believe stories which are not anonymous. If anything is too risque to be posted in public on this website, just get in touch by email.

Please pass this request on to anyone else who may have something to share,
Thanks,
Stuart Scott

When you say vans, do you mean like panelvans or like transit vans?

Id say he means Pano's. My Uncle had a Sandman when they first came out. He was a surfer from Byron. Unfortunately he wont be able to tell you of his stories, as his life was ended in the surf in 82. I heard he loved it though, as would I if I ever owned one.

The van stories I'm hoping to find can be about almost anything which has four wheels, solid sides and room for a mattress in the back. Shag pile and jacuzzi optional. Mostly Sundowners here, I suppose, though more-worker-style vans are fine so long as they've had an interesting life.
