Default Mp3 Editing?

Hi guys, Ive got some mp3's that have an annoying sound at the start of each song that i would like to remove. What program would I use to edit an mp3?

Thanks
Jason

Easiest thing (or the Old School™ thing, which is what I would do!) would be to decompress into .wav format and edit in a normal .wav editor eg. Goldwave, then compress back to mp3. Have done this on more than a few occasions.

Someone will no doubt jump in and point out how behind-the-times I am and that you can edit mp3's directly now with some newfangled software. Bleh!

Also, if you have Nero, it comes with a sound editor that will let you do as you ask.

I havent heard of goldwave in years!!! Ahhh memories...

Yeah, i'd go the Cool Edit or Soundforge way.. Just silence the noise at the start or delete it.
