A question on the Bulletins quiz was to what car manufacter did Clyde write an appreciation letter thanking them for producing such good getaway cars. I always thought it was to Ford but the answer was Chev. I think they got it wrong. Anyone know a bit about this history?

I thought it was Ford too, the letter thanked Henry for the flathead V8. But hey its probably myth anyway.

fact: clyde actually wrote a letter to henry ford thanking him, for the v8 (flat head type) as it helped him ellude the cop's.

Thats what I thought. I seemed to remember it was to do with the flathead V8. Thanks guys, but I bet the bulletin will get some mail over the blue.

Pretty sure it was ford
there famous getaway car was 1934 sedan

There was also a story of John Dillinger that wrote the letter to Henry Ford praising the Ford V8. I remember seeing it years ago on a doco on Foxtel.

i thought they drove the chev meself , but im not an egevicateded bloke ( failed pre school  was held back and had to repeat )

The letter in question actually resides in the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit USA. I have a photo of it that I took when I was there in 2004. If I can find it, I'll post it.

Car was definitely a Ford V8 (1932/4 model depending on your source). It's on display at a Casino on Nevada, bullet holes and all.
