Default Serp Conversion

Im thinking of doing the serp conversion to my car since

* A/C needs to be reinstalled anywho
* 70amp Mitzi doesnt cut it, 110amp is needed for all the crap going into the car
* Power Steeringpump is crappy.

Now most stuff I need can be sourced from work I assume, but I need to know exactly what I need...

Alternator
Harmonic Balancer
Idler Pully?
A/C Compressor
Power Steering pump
Belt (Obviously)
EF Timing cover

Also I remember there being some issue with having to get a XH1 Tensioner?

Thanks

yes the motor wouldnt start. Not the outcome I was looking for.

If someone who has a list of what parts I will need it would be great

Talk to dellboy, he did it and then his car wouldn't start :P
Yes, I know I haven't done it yet, but you need -
Power steering pump + bracket
Alternator + bracket
A/C comp
Harmonic balancer - ef or el will fit, but if you get the el one there shouldn't be the extra gear for the crank sensor
Timing case is optional, you can always just whack a little notch in for the timing.
Belt (obviously)
If you want to keep your current manifold (ie, MPFI) you will need an XH tensioner. Dayco sell them.
If you switch to BBM, you'll need the EL a/c brackets and you can use an EL tensioner.

Hey, if you do it before I do, I'll come give you a hand, so we can see what breaks on your car first! :P

Thanks steven, Just what I wanted to know.

I will be staying MPFI as BBM has no benifits in my car.

as they had the 4litre with ED manifold and serpentine belt....

also, i do recall SWOOPA having some isses with AU into Eseries around the ac compressor...
i cant recall what he ended up doing, i think he modified a bracket..?? someone correct me

That was the dizzy hitting the a/c bracket. Nothing a angle grinder didn't fix.

If you're using the XH tensioner (pre BBM), you will be using the XH belt as well. I bought an AU belt for mine and had to sell it and then buy an XH.

I think the best option would be to buy a complete EF or EL then swap everything over.

Hope this helps.

XH belt is about $30
You can use an EA or EB compressor if your happy to change the pulley ;)
Or you can just use a EF type one...

Also save some $$ and change the power steering pump pulley (very easy) instead of swapping pumps because you'll have problems with the hoses.

Everything is easy bolt on e.t.c, don't forget all brackets you'll need too, I did it on my EA and it was a fantastic mod.

You can either get a cheap dodgy EF compressor (as I did) and not hook up the lines, or change the pulley on your EA one which is not really hard just needs to be compressed out. The aircon lines are different IIRC, but you still use your EA plate, not sure what others done here but I went the dodgy way and had no air con
