Default Eibach Pro-Damper Set '00-05 Ford Focus

After being told the "shocking" news that I needed all 4 shocks replaced and it would cost $950-$1000, I did some digging around. Found a set which cost the same as the pedders shocks but has springs and sway bars. factoring shipping it would be 300 bucks more to get this fitted)extra labour coz of springs and sway bars).

there is another set which hasn't got the sway bars from this website;

http://focus.c-f-m.com/shockstruts.aspx

Was wondering would sway bars make a huge difference.

Also anyone ordered off this site I got a link from these forums.

Any help would be great.

Changing the Rear Sway Bar helps steering and rigidity of the vehicle. Think upwards of 22mm thick is the most you need to go any thicker and can damage other parts (ie. Mountings etc.)

I've ordered a number of parts from CFM. Reputable and reliable. Not a problem. The parts guys name is William

I'd get the sway bars while you are at it, and with Eibach you will have the virtually perfect street suspension kit for the LR Focus.

You have the pro spring kit right?

is the ride very bad now, meaning harsh and kidney damaging hard?

was looking at this kit which effectively makes it the same as a st170 suspension. would this be better in the real world?

I was nearly going to suggest the SVT kit as an alternative. Both will be good.

I found the pro kit springs excellent....no real change to the comfort level from stock if I remember correctly. Not at all hard or "kidney bruising".......my wife would have told me if it was!!!

From memory...and someone correct me if I'm wrong.....the Eibach kit will sit slightly lower than the SVT kit....a slightly more aggressive stance

Yeah I will go witht he SVT kit due to the $$$ factor, plus the St170 was never faulted for bad handling!

Did some more research it says it lowers the car by half an inch, which isnt too bad.

EYah just bought the kit and some spark plugs.

the sevice centre said it would cost 35 bucks spark plug next service!

bought 4 for 40 bucks from that site.

guess i'll buy my service parts from this site from now on.

BTW for those interested I bought the ST170 kit (SVT) for the same price as pedders shocks. But the kit comes with lowered springs and a new front sway bar plus the shocks. including shipping it cost 50 bucks more but i saved 90 bucks beause i bought the spark plugs.

it pays to shop around i guess.

I'll update when i install the kit!

which part of australia you in and how much did shipping set you back? im considering making a similar move to you.

oh and for what reason did you need new shocks? im over 90000km with several track days on it and im scared i might need new ones soon as well.

cheers

Im in Sydney and shipping was 300 US. All up it cost $639 US which isnt bad considering new shocks alone would cost me $600 Ozzie and they are not as good as the ST170 shocks.

The kit included springs and a new sway bar (front). I did some asking appearently shocks go on a car around the 100- 110,000 mark. But if your track racing then I would suggest you get some new shocks.

The ST170 are really good units, if you want a lower stance then get the eibach springs. But this SVT(ST170) kit lowers the car by an 1nch.

BTW if you just want SVT(St170) shcoks that would cost around 500 shipped to Sydney. BUt i went the whole hog. I want to do track days aswell!

damn... 300 for shipping. thats almost the price of the suspension. still way cheaper than buying local though. if/when i need new shocks i'll likely go the whole shebang and get springs as well. and track days... do it!! soooo much fun driving as hard as you can/dare as opposed to how fast the rta says. and you learn so much about your own car and how to control it. could very well come in handy one day.

Good news on the shocks front.

Got the items and they were well packed. Reckonmend buying stuff from that place.

Anywho... Installed the shocks and springs myself and the car sits about 1cm lower and it feels a lot better.

Well worth it for an upgrade.

Well photo evidence i guess

As you can see the front is lowered by 1.5cm and the rear .5cm

I know I know not much but its a huge difference from stock!

But the car rides well and the shocks look stock to boot.

The rears were easy to put on but the fronts were hard. Needed spring compressors and an extra pair of hands.

BUt I got there and it was fun.

No better way to spend a rainy Sunday.

Bad thing about the kit it dodnt come with a new gaiter thing.

But who cares I can still pass the car off as stock.
