i was wondering what the difference is between a BA engine and the EA-AU engines and would it bolt straight into an EB or ED with no major probs.
could you imagine how hard an ED would go with a BA motor and trans |

I started typing what I know, but its already been said in the many other BA into E-series threads.
In short, it can be done. Its not easy and unless you can do most of the work yourself it will probably end up costing just as much if not more than a 2nd hand BA.

yeah i agree with stockstandard, it maybe a better option just to get a second hand ba, ud get one for $17,000, cos ud spend $4000 on the engine (i reckon) then u gotta do all the wiring, fuel pump, cooling, heating, ecu, pretty much a whole rebuild.
very hard....... but doable

There is an EL with a BA engine fitted that has appeared in a couple of magazines. One problem that came up with the installation in the EF though was the rocker cover didn't clear the bonnet, so a hole had to be cut into the bonnet. I'm guessing the EA-ED would have a similar problem.

obviously it will go hard wit the ba motor in it, but theres no point spending that money and doin all the stuffin around unless us gonna be used for a reason |

it's got DOHC they're way smoother and it would be way easier to turbo a BA engine and the reason it would be better to put one in an EA-ED than by a second hand BA is because the EA-ED is way lighter so it would go waaaaaaaaaay harder

it can be 'bolted' in.
but engine management, and other differences would make it an expensive option.

An EA motor is a failry low compression motor at 8.8:1 so is nice for a turbo, and they can go damn hard, for the $4000 BA motor cost (n/a only) you could have a rebuilt EA motor and nice turbo setup.

I would go to the damaged car auctions and check out the prices of a wrecked BA and get a whole car with every thing you need to do the swap. You should be able to pick one up for between $4000 to $7000.
