Hi All
Forgive me if this has already been redressed multiple times already but i've tried my best to search a solution to this issue. My MK5 has failed it's WOF inspection due to tired U Joints on the drive shaft. These are the factory fitted "staked/penged" U Joints. I've been told this is a specialist job that can only be carried by 2 businesses in New Zealand. One in the south Island and one in the north for a price that I can't afford. Question is, I have some universals from Repco that appear to be held in place with a cir-clip on what appears to be on the inside of the Yoke, Not fixed as factory by a cap on the outside. Does anyone have any experience in changing out the factory fitted U Joints that can point me in the right direction for some info? Thanks in advance |

The staked ball joints can be replaced with the kits like THIS one.

This
https://www.burtonpower.com/universa...er-ujkit2.html is very similar to the joints I have from Repco. As far as I understand the ones that are held in place by a clip on the outside of the trunnion would require a groove for the clip to sit in? Since I will be replacing staked joints I'm left with the one option of the cir-clip type on the inside of the yoke? |
