I had a similar issue in my place a while back with a constantly blocking toilet. Seems someone repaired the pvc pipe at some point in history by putting a new section in.... However, they were concerned that mere glue would not contain the pressure and turds, so they put 3" screws through to make sure it held together... I'm sure you can imagine that caused some issues with the flow of objects through the pipe.

Fortunately no pictures, but bloody hell... When the camera went down and discovered that, there were laughs and confusion aplenty. How it lasted as long as it did before it started chronically clogging is beyond me.

Can you core the driveway 200mm and come in at 45° to the line? Or is it really deep under the slab/wall? What about digging down, from the upside of your retaining?

Indeed. I’ve been vegetarian (not vegan) for over 35 years and never looked for “just like” substitutes. Occasionally I miss savoury meat products like pastrami or curried goat, but not enough to actually want to eat them again. Or seek out a lookalike.

I need a dancutter to cut the rod, then it will be relined and sealed that way all via a machine rather than ripping up the driveway and retaining wall. Got a second quote which came in at half the price to do the same job, so we are looking at that option instead.

The rod is in a straight line about 15m from the IP so there is no right angles to deal with at least.

Lucky we got it before it got that bad. I could hear the pipe gurgling and the l'dry trough wasnt releasing the water from the bowl when I fill it up. That was our first sign.

To add insult to the "I hate that" injury, we are having black outs every second night due to our solar batteries not being properly wired up. I have called back the company a number of times but due to the amount of call outs they are dealing with, I am in a queue of 30+ people waiting for them to fix it.

Probably about a year ago the sewer vent in my brothers yard was overflowing. He didnt want to call sydney water as he has no side access and didnt want filth tracked through his house. So he lives in a townhouse and there is a common area down stream which has an access cover. I stood back and found it quite entertaining. He loosened off 2 screws on the lid and got sprayed with excriment. So called sydney water as they had clear access to that inspection lid. The blockage was apparently 300 odd meters down stream, but they cleared it.

When they’re ripe and blow back at you from built up pressure of wastewater and gas, that’s not fun.

Re the drill bit, I was educated old-school style and that included lots of lateral thinking. Typical examples would be coming in through an outside wall instead of smashing up bathroom tiles, or digging a tunnel under a slab instead of going through the top. I think the new breed of tradies are way too reliant on machines rather than intellect or sweat - it’s better to have all approaches in the kit. The amount of wasted time on new builds with a toy-size digger instead of two blokes with shovels, does my head in.

After the brown smelly swamp in my brothers yard dried up and the clumps of poo tickets removed, tomato plants and chilli plants started growing.
Part of my property is an easement as the sewer main runs along it. There is a vent and access point at the bottom of my driveway. From time to time that backs up but its 65m from my house (i live in a battle axe so long driveway) so typically its people who live down at the street who call it in due to unpleasant odours.

One job i did not envy. So years back i was do a domestic on a 'fixer upper' in avalon. So i was just doing the electrical. The house itself was sliding down the hill it was built on. No joke, you put a drill bit down and it would roll away. Under the house, most brick peirs were on a lean and not even contacting the beams. But anyrate, the owner paid for the foundations to be fixed. So around the externals the assumingly well paid poor blokes dug by hand 8ft deep holes then under the footings. With the lack of access and how soft the ground was, machinery was not a safe option. It rained heavily for a few days so the holes filled up and had to get pumped out, but as the place was halfway down a big hill (not quite a mountain) it copped all the runoff from higher areas so even with days of good weather the holes would fill up again. These holes were dug to fill with concrete to give stable points to then use hydraulic jacks to lift the house whilst new footings could be made to both level the house and stop its migration down the slope.
So much money and work. The start was a pretty **** house sliding down a hill. End product is the same ****ty house thats level and not sliding down a hill. Dunno the mentality of the owner. It would cost not a massive amount more to demo the place and have a new one built to their specs.

Decided to use the not so good weather over the long weekend to give the Xr8 a well-deserved clean after my trip to Newie a few weeks back.

I have a couple of kinchrome wall mounted tool cupboards that are sitting on the ground against the wall beside the Xr8. As I reversed out, I hear a bang and stop immediately, only to find one of the cupboard doors has opened in the wind as I'm reversing out and has caught against the side of the car.

The subsequent damage:







Paint removed and a dent.

Yeah, could have been worse. If the door had not caught in the guard but was at full open as I reversed, I may not have heard anything and ended up with nice scratch marks down the length of the entire car.

So my brother asked if he could use my laptop to pay some bills over the interwebs today. Thats fine. So i turned on my craptop and said go ham. This is where it really cemented my opinion that my older brother is technologicaly retarded. He asks where is the internet¿. So i opened chrome on the desktop.
