fu><ers .. Thats the downside to PHPBB2. At least an earlier version was pretty buggy and prone to exploitation.
Have you (a) got a backup and (b) updated the version of BB2??

PS: take the site down now so they can't look at it and gloat. ing_sm

Are you hosting yourself or from an ISP?

Not to worry, worked it for myself. I trust you have a backup to reload.

If you haven't done so already try and save your (hopefully unaltered) logs and work out which doors you need to have locked shut.

These guys are stupid. With such computer knowledge they could be millionares by now .But they are so dumb...that they had to hack a car forum site without any gain in their interests.
They have only fuelled resentment and awareness to the fact that they have no brains.

Run exploitable versions of software and you will get hacked.

PHPBB 2.0.x has been plagued by bugs, if your going to use it at least keep it up to date or migrate to different software. I've seen countless amounts of sites been broken into through PhpBB.

Sorry, nobody to blame but yourself !

Lack of social interaction. They dont realize it aint cool cause they dont go out. If they did they would get knocked for 6. Throwing mouses and keyboard keys aint gonna cut it.

Mate i hope you get your site up and running smoothly again.

Lots here won't understand your attitude honer. We don't wash our cars for someone to throw dirt at,we don't lock them just so people can break into them, can't say i'll have any sympathy for you if ever some of your hard work ever gets destroyed and it is just blatant needless destruction and vandalism, nothing more nothing less, nothing.

99% of hackers have no idea at all, they just find a script or tool written by someone else and then run around feeling good ripping stuff apart. I have had the good fortune to actually catch a couple of these dickheads, one on the net the other in real life.
The net guy was so clever that his own system was vulnerable (bind buffer exploit) and somehow his /etc /bin and /boot directories just magicly erased themselves......
The real world guy was a local frootloop with a big mouth who got visited by some friendly guys in blue jammies. Unfortunately it could not be proven that he hacked anything but his box was chokka with every script ever written (almost) including various versions of the same stuff. The interesting thing was that the box was missing most of the goodies needed to actually make stuff e.g. most of the devel libraries to steal stuff from, gcc was the original (not updated) version etc etc.....

Unfortunately these wombats abound on the net. Every time a new exploit is announced it is a frantic scramble to either block or patch it.

As stated earlier, the only defence you have is to stay active and check for everything, everyday.
