Although it is a long way from Adelaide there are a few BF Ghias starting to appear along with the BA2s at our state govt auctions. There is also the odd ex police XR6T and soon Typhoon

I'd be asking why it's got new plates on too. Could be nothing, like the originals were personalised, or it could mean it was off the road (getting repaired??) for an extended period.

Can you tell me why, how, what is rubbish?

Any personal experiences you could add?

Fact: I dont like the way it looks, so to me its rubbish. Why would i buy a car that i thought was ugly? Then again i wouldnt buy any current models from the last 20 years.

So in your opinion, you dont like it because its ugly?

hmm, well fair enough. Its your opinion, cant argue with that.

But if you had such a low esteem on the last 20 years worth of cars, why are you commenting on this thread in particular? I dont understand.

So do I. But one has to weigh up with the heart wants and what the sitation needs. :

Im torn to my choices at this stage.

Im looking at upping the budget, but if I do that, then I feel like whats the point getting a Ford when I can get a Liberty GT and hold resale. Still I have always loved the XR6T's and when I took one for a test drive today, I was VERY tempted to sign on the dotted line. They re such an awesome car. DAMMIT, its so frustrating what to do. :

Well, apart from it being more expensive than you originally mentioned you were going to go. I think you're not gonna be happy unless your back in the proper Blue Oval Shav. I mean, there is nothing wrong with that car, but are you going to be happy with it? At the end of the day, its going to be what YOU want and what YOU consider the best value? Best to go the XR6T and take the cheaper option, where you know parts/service are going to be reasonably prices since its an Aussie car, or go the more expensive option with the Subaru again?

Once again Chris, you make some fine points. :voldar02:

I know what you re saying, and my heart tells me to settle for the 6T, but on the otherhand, I like the quality of the Subaru's. The Ford had quite a bit to offer when I test drove it. And I was quite chuffed with the performance. Still Im quite reserved in the overall package. I dont know why, perhaps its probably because it was the colour of the car, the lack of options, Im not sure, but its still yet to really GRAB me.

BTW, I looked at an 04 6T blueprint auto with 53ks and premuim sound today.

I asked about the Ghias, and the dealer told me that they dont bother getting them in due to lack of interest. He says he cant get rid of them. The 6T's however, he cant hold onto long enuf. Everyone seems to want one.

Dealer said he would swap the standard 17's on the BA over for the 18's he had on another car for nothing. Gave me a very reasonable appraisal on my current car. But I left it at that.

Tomorrow, Im just gonna take a Liberty GT for a test drive and compare the 2. I'll know what I will be finally happy with after that.

I guess that one way around the i not modding the car!

Very nice looking car.
If your planing on keeping the car for a few years, you need something that you can get your hands on the spares parts easy.

Agreed!

I voted for the Ghia a while ago, but if it's a choice between the XR6T and a Subaru, go the Ford.

If you want Quality/Reliability go the Scoob, they go alright too although a manual would be better. Also a wagon would be more versatile.

I think its a matter of finding an 03-04 XR6T in black (which is the rpimary colour Im looking for), getting premium sound (an absolute must), and getting leather (I love the feel). All for well under 30k. and with minimal k's

Chris, you crack me up. :
