Default One day...

I haven稚 driven my car for a few weeks. She痴 resting. So it痴 been public transport, borrowed Holdens, lifts, and now a daily hack. A rattly, past-its-used-by-date ute. Sweating on the way to work. The bang and crash of the tray. The AM radio.

But one day I知 going to drive my car again. A Friday night, after work. Pair of jeans, t-shirt, driving boots. She値l be parked by the kerb, long and sleek and shiny, the tint reflecting the street lights. Two pumps of the throttle and she値l start first time. I値l get out then, walk around to the back and listen to the idle.

The big plush seats will swallow me when I get back in. Windows down, stereo on. Blues Brothers. The green glow of the dash lights. Carpet warming up from the extractors. Blip the throttle. Smile. Foot on brake, hand on the cold shifter, down in to D. Idle down to the end of the street.

Quick look right and left. Nail it. She値l shoot straight up to 5 grand and dance out on to the main road. Next thing I know I値l be out on the freeway, listening to the tyres humming and the exhaust rumbling. On my way somewhere. Anywhere.

Ah Nick my friend, I can't believe you haven't driven the Green Machine (tm) in so long. I can honestly have written the same story about my XR6. The GT has been the Daily Driver (tm) for the past I forget how many weeks (when was the Melbourne Motor Show again?).

Driven to work every day, into town, to the supermarket to do the shopping, other side of town to get to Roller Hockey, off to visit friends in Melbourne and of course Heathcote. Who can forget the Golden Muffler Award (tm). And of course I was wearing the Ultimate Driving Boots (tm).

That reminds me, I must get some Brake Pads and Disks for the XR6 this weekend.........
