Hi all,
My MKII Escort is making some unattractive noises when i corner (actually when i turn the steering wheel), not always but fairly regulary. The noise is a sort of crunch/thud deeper sound and I can feel it feed back through the steering wheel. Is this a common problem? Could it be the rack mount bushes or the rack itself, or perhaps something else. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Adam. |

Mine does something similar to this in the left, so far it has been traced to the springs turning building up pressure and then releasing it's load.

Theres a plastic bush inside each end of the rack that can break up & cause vibration when loaded up under cornering - could be that - had it go on my old RS2000. The more cornering load the worse the noise& vibration. Can be repaired - just means pulling the rack internals to bits....
