The model number for a 70gtv6 is 13018, for a 71 its 13118, for a 72 its 13218. One of these numbers should be on the vin plate. Then see if theres a number on the vin plate that matches with the body number and engine number. Tell us the result for further deciphering. Cheers, ron.

cheers for the reply Ron.
Will be asking a few more questions from the seller.
as its got fiberglass front guards, and modified drive train (engine all the way back to diff) Im sorta wondering just how original it is. really nice car tho' trying to make my mind up fast, as tyre kicking wont get a capri under the carport 8)

Kermit 73 the v6gt only came out in 1970. The 69gt is a four cylinder.
Gtpaul. If you buy a capri with fibreglass guards make sure it comes with a roadworthy or engineers certificate approving guard conversion. or you could run into registration hassles as the steel guards being welded on provide some strength to the front.

Im really surprised about the wealth of information on this forum, Ive used it alot over the last two years or so.
Im an ex MK1 escort lad inheriting my grandfathers car, was my first car even be4 I had my licence the 1100 was dumped and i put my brothers RS2000 motor and suspension in, SAS seats, Regency Park loved it so much it went back twice for 3approvals and a photo of my gearbox mount. Verry fast car and twice as good at stopping. Use to put it up against my friends V8's (XA GT, XB GT and a worked 308 statesman) and beat them every time. SOB!!

I always wanted a capri and hopefully it will soon be mine.

I assume they were used to fit in with the Falcon GT when they were introduced with the XW

I would think the superoo sticker was just a sales gimmik. If the falcon won on sunday just imagine when you went into the showroom on monday and all the gts are wearing the same sticker. The glory rubs off on the whole range (falcon, capri, escort).
