Hi everyone i have a '04 LR Focus and every now and again, well happening alot now, it will try to kick over but wont start has fuel and near new batt then you turn the key back take it out, then when you put the key back in and try to start it, it starts like new? what could be causing this and will it lead to further damage/wear? My old LR had a similar problem, every now and again it would start but it felt like only 2 cylinders were firing.
You'd shut it of, fire it up again and it was fine.

It improved when I replaced the battery but not completely. Plus my battery was shagged.

Perhaps check your airbox and hose assembley. If there's air getting in some where it'll confuse the MAF.

Failing that look at your ignition, not a whole lot there you can do yourself but it's a good place to start.

I must say I've never had that issue.

I'm wondering if there is a problem with the battery in the key? If the car doesn't recognise the key code, the ignition won't start as an anti theft device. Perhaps the battery is weak? (Battery in key, not in engine)

The radio security code is also on a sticker underneath the removable ashtray, its the 4 digit "key code".
Not exactly anti theft but its there on my 03 zetec!
