Question focus problems?

hey every one, my partners only just bought a 06 focus its a CL (?) with about only 50,000 on the clock, i myself have an au falcon and know a little bit with what could go wrong with it, but what about the focus? she took it in today for service at ford and she was smacked with a 450 dollar bill, what exactly do they do? are they a complicated car? have we been ripped off?
any help would be much appreciated as i know SFA about these great little cars lol
cheers

They are remarkably simple and easy to DIY service.

However for warranty you should get approved services carried out.

Sounds like they replaced the wiper blades right? A standard service used to cost me around $220 but now I do it myself for around $50.

They use original Ford spark plugs, made by Motorcraft.

The most I've paid for a focus service is $250 so far if that helps.

Furthermore I just got the BF serviced and it was a major and that was $341 at Ford.

So I hope you got complimentary lube with that service.........

Not as familar with 06 model, but I'm assuming they'll be platinum or iridium plugs? So they are more expensive.

Just looked them up. RRP for NGK Iridiums for 06 Focus is $40 ea. Discounted, $29.90 ea.

So $102 looks pretty good to me

That's right. The motorcraft plugs are reported to be as good as any aftermarket plugs.

I got my Iridium Plugs for $14.95 each on the interweb, $40.00 is a ripoff bigtime - even $29.90 is a ripoff. Hunt around and get plugs at a better price, don't forget to tell them when you put your car in for service that you have Iridium Plugs or the buggers rip them out and chuck them away. They are good for 100,000Km's. When you get home take one out and make sure they haven't swapped them out.

Sorry guy's I don't trust the buggers, after working my earlier days as a Mechanic in dealers I have seen to much to not check their work. Once warranty is up I will be servicing my cars myself, at least I know it has been done properly.

With the LS plugs don't use the part number noted in the manual, get the part number off the existing plugs.
