Default Egas 6cyl to V8 Conversion

Been toying with the idea of converting to V8 in my AU3 Egas.

Is there anything that is different to just converting a petrol AU to V8?

Will I need to upgrade to GRA throttle body and a different convertor or gas ECU?

Obviously the car would be running on straight gas which is often done, just havent seen an Egas converted.

Lol, surprised no-one else has replied yet...

Use all the V8 stuff, but when it comes to fuel lines, just block them up and unplug the injectors...

You can use a GRA throttlebody and convertor, but you will have to move the convertor... Use the petrol pump +12v with a fuse for the LPG lock offs (its how I've seen other straight gas cars converted like the AU 'Lane)

btw, if you wanna convert to climate control, good idea to do it with the conversion.

Petey..!
It's a great idea to do the swap, I'm glad I did mine..

Now a small list of things to do,
If the ECU, BEM & Key have to all communicate, you'll need to get it re-programmed when you fit a S3 V8 ECU.
You'll need the loom from ECU to engine, but all the dash loom and wiring will stay the same.
K-frame is the same, so you'll just need V8 mounts.
Intermediate shaft from steering column to rack.
Power steering lines are different
You'll need new fuel lines and will have to change the gas setup.
A/C lines
Exhaust

Umm, let me go back to my notes I made when doing mine and I'll get back to you on the rest.
It's not a hard conversion to do, I'd say do it.
The only issue will be the added expense of changing the gas setup and whether it fits into your budget..

What is the budget mate? I may be able to help you out with a conversion..

K frame is 100% the same.

Wiring.

The way the battery is earthed is slightly different 6 vs 8. But easily fixed.

The positive from the battery to the starter motor is longer on the 6 as the starter motor sits higher than the 8. Again though easy fix.

The only other wiring so far that I have found different is the passenger side of the engine bay. 6 cly doesn't have provision for the passenger side oxy sensor the the v8 loom does.

Also, depending on the model the alternator plug may be a 2 pin or 3 pin. However, again an easy fix as there are only 2 wires regardless if it is a 2 pin or 3 pin plug!

Hope this helps. As I am doing the v8 conversion now this is all I have come across. However, I don't have it back together 100% and running yet so don't quote me.

Cheers,
Rhys

Nope a series 1 ecu is not going to work in a series 2 and a series 2 will not work in a series 3. And more so mixing anything series 1 with something later gets difficult as things changed from marlock to smartsheild.

So really I need a series 3 V8 ECU/cluster/engine bay loom to go with the engine/auto?

Then off to the LPG place to have the right stuff fitted to run on LPG

You don't need the dash loom, unless you want to do a Fairmont dash conversion Pete...

Yes to everything else.
