Default What's the Difference - Forte to SR?

Hi Guys,

Got my second AU a few weeks back, Congo Green 01 SR Sedan, really good, but had a few problems that I'm slowly working though.

Steering rack was replaced, tailshaft will go the same way, a dodgy oil leak from the sump. Apart from this it's a great car. I'll post some pics soon, gotta wash the thing, darn summer stormy weather!

By the way, the question I wanted to ask was...

What were the differences between the Forte and the SR?

I've noticed of course the spoiler, the extra paint detail, the alloys, the sideskirts, cruise, but I'm sure there are others. What were they?

GK

Thats pretty much it. Mechanically they were identical.

Ok. I noticed the suspension felt pretty stiff, I was wondering whether there were any tweaks in that area? Wishful thinking probably LOL!

Fairly sure the SR was lower in all models - it certainly was in wagon form

Difference was:
- Boot spoiler
- Decals
- Body Coloured Front Grill
- Chrome Exhaust Tip (I think)
- Falcon S/SR/Classic (Blue/Black) Trim
- Intermittent Wipers
- Tickford Suspension
- Side Skirts (Although standard on AU3)
- Colour-coded Parts (Standard on AU3)

Although:
- Cruise Control & Intermittent Wipers & Boot Spoiler & Chrome Tip, were optional on Forte Model.

It certainly feels tighter in the handling department!

GK

P.S JC, did you see the thread about the Smartsheild/Smartlock question? If I'm not mistaken, you or LG (not exactly sure) guided me to some Ford info on it earlier in the year.

GK - no, havent seen it yet, and I don't know much about either, so it must have been LG. Damn 2 letter user names. They're all confusing!

When I bought my focus (yes I know it's not a falcon) I got the SR version of the LS. So SR V Forte. Anyway, the salesman told me that the only difference between the 2 are Aircon, 15" alloys and the badging. As Aircon is standard in the falcon, I imagine it's what you have described.

Good one Bucky. Comparing an AU SR Falcon to a Laser SR, oops Focus. Like comparing an XY GT and a BF GT - while they are both GTs, they come with vastly different features. Nice try though - you are just trying to keep ahead in the post count, aren't you???

The focus rules. I'd like to see you out run it on foot. Won't happen. The focus is superior.

The bottom line is they are both ford so :

Maybe I am trying to keep ahead in the post count. :nutsycuck

Compared to other 'non' SR AU2 cars, my car seemed to handle alot better...maybe i'm just being biased towards my car....

I have a Feb '01 AU2 S pak, i dont know about the later SR models, but the S came with Tickford/Sports Suspension as standard.

Definately a difference in the handling, steering etc, much tighter over the base model Forte etc
