Theoretically I can't see the point in intake piping in terms of making the car run....

It would be detrimental to the cars health i.e air intake temp sensor and airflow values being rooted but other than that cant see why not.

Would be a good way to make a functional shaker... piping straight from duct to throttle body..... hmmm ideas.....

The pipe you speak of is there puerly to quieten the induction noise. EB1's didnt have it.

Umm, are you talking about the pipe from the filter box to the TB?

He is, but its the extra bit of pipe that hangs off the main one. The XR8's have them.

I had it removed on my EB2 V8 as it had cracked. Made no difference to performance.. induction noise was slightly more.

Default Custom Intake pipe

The reason i ask is that yesterday i bought a 3in stainless 45degree mandrel bent pipe and adapted it to my intake and obviosly now i dont have a spot for that pipe, but so far the car does feel better and the bay looks beta too ill post up a pic after, it costs to much to buy them from everywhere its about 300+ for a pipe and 2 silicone joiners and hose clamps. cost me 26 for pipe and 6 for 2 more hose clamps.

The squiggle pipe is supposed to do 2 things:
1. balance air pressure in the intake pipe
2. reduce induction noise (refer to 1 above).

I have run the standard intake with that bit blanked off, and I have run a 3" steel pipe, and am now back to the standard intake with the squiggly bit back on (because of my gas setup). I found bugger all difference in performance with either setup. Noise is the only distinguishing feature.

Heres a big word for some...
Its a sonic resonance chamber, only there to muffle the induction noise..
