Default Stall converter

Just a quick question to quell my curiosity...

If I put a 2500rpm stall converter in my ute, what would need to change electronically for it to work properly?

Would a retune of the car also be required?

Default Stally

Hi Kenny, electronically nothing needs to be changed. I put one in my EB and didnt change anything. Talk to the guys at Brisbane converter exchange they have learnt lots more since they done my first one and are currently doing me another without the lockup installed. The only trouble im having is it wont change into 4th after a big burnout, have to get the temp solenoid removed or adjusted.

Thanks Adam.

I'll more than likely be dealing with Ron Hill Automatics up here, they have a good reputation and do a good job.

Then I can get them to do a dyno run too... :

They probably get there converters from Brisbane, they send there stally's all over the country.

Not suited for towing of heavy load carrying though ... if using the ute for work I'd suggest not getting a high stall.

Cant help you with the stally question, ive used Ron Hill Automatics (Maroochydoore) for service work on my old El (Diff and Auto), they do a good job, but they arent cheap.

That's where I can get away with that.

My ute doesn't carry loads all that often. Maybe twice a year.

Yeah, I knew that too. They do some great work, but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for it.

burpengary transmissions seem to have a GREAT reputation
i dunno about stallconverters thru them tho(never been looking for them)

nope, just match forward motion to the powerband..

Alot better acceleration..

Thet actually will reduce rwkw usually as they are more prone to "slip", even at WOT. Most aftermarket histalls will not lock up fully (in fact most Ford factory converters dont lock up fully). The higher the stall ,the more prone to slip, the lower the rwkw... but damn doesnt the launch make up for it
