Err, well if that's true, then you guys obviously don't know how much the car is worth.

When you try and build a 10 second Fairmont Turbo, show me change from $20k on mods ALONE, and i'll be impressed.

Taken from fordmods.com..

"Holden VLCT SII 1988 10sec
Automatic RB30DET

Currently looking for offers over $20k

VLCT SII 1988
imac blue over silver
perfect body
sunroof
clean interiour

Genuine 10sec vlct
Dyno sheets for 317rwkw
Time slips for 10.88@128mph with footbrake and pump fuel, drive to and back from calder
car has potential for mid 10 pass with more practice
and even 9sec pass with transbrake and more boost with c16 (wont do that untill i get stronger rods)

List of Mods:

T04Z, hi-mount manifold, tial 44mm gate with screamer, JDCustom plenum and piping, micro-tech,
huge fuel system with surge and pump set-up in boot, battery in boot, forged pistons, turbo cam, headwork etc.

its like paying 3.5k to get an engine rebuilt then trying to sell it for 3.5k, you wont get it, supply verses demmand.

That's where you're wrong mate. CHEF's car wasn't anywhere NEAR the league this VL is in. CHEF'S car was a toy compared to this VL.

EDIT: I have noa ffiliation with the seller what so ever. I just give credit where credit is due. And this VL is so nice, I can see why Hus has bought it. I'd even buy it for the right price. It's a stunner. Immaculate condition, lowered on polished calais rims looks tough, and the engine has been done properly. The ultimate car on the track, and the perfect everyday car on the street. All you gotta do is get an emissions test, and the cops won't be able to touch you for anything on that car.

Thats not what Raven is getting at. People mod cars and then they think there going to get there cash back. just doesn't happen, unless you are in no rush to sell and you can wait for the bait to come.

Not saying that its not a damn fine car, but $20k for a VL? And one that can be defected at a drop of a hat? If it had compliance plates then thats a little different, but its still a big ask.

Defected at the drop of a hat? Don't think so jim. From the photos, the car looks perfectly roadworthy. Don't forget, it's a FACTORY turbo car, hence it's engineered to have a turbo on it. The only thing I can see he got the defect for (without seeing more of the car) would be the ride height.

It can be defected. Its all aftermarket gear. Its not allowed. EPA would have a field day.

It will sell for $20K though. People pay rediculous amounts for VL's and for a 10 second package it isnt a bad price.

^^what Dan said.

Either way, its a nice car, and if hus has seriously brought it then good luck to him. Personally Id spend $20k on a XB GT or similar and what the price go up instead of down.

But obviously Hus likes his slips, so he'll be pretty happy with that.

Pod is not in a box as well, instant defect, before they even look at the rest of the car for things to pick on.

Emmission testing, raise it a bit, move the tacho's and put the pod in a stainless box.

How hard is that to have a $20k 10 second road legal car?

Theres an E series running 10s with a $300 wreckers motor...

Plenty of e-series running 11s for less than 5k mods...

Anyways back to the topic, Id rather drive a rusty XB ute than a VL... But thats my opinion i suppose.

Emmisions - not that easy to pass, costs thousands so everyone says.

Ride height & Tacho's - yeah easy one

Pod - who uses steel for a box? kinda defeats the pupose doesn't it?

If it was that easy to mod turbos in Vic legally, everyone would do it.

why do you think ppl buy VLT's and XR6T's to modify?
a number of things could be change to make that more legal. how ever it woudln't pass an emmisions test.

Actually I have always wonderd, with the emmissions test, does it have to comply with what was standard at the time or now? Or is there a level for modified cars?

Just curious.

emmisions test is as per when the engine or car was built (which ever is newer)
if done right, the car could be engineered so that everything on it is *more* legal.
i don't think an emmisions test is required aslong as the factory ECU is in place (perhaps put it in for engineering, hide hide when normally running?)

i'm only speculating, laws and regulations suck no matter what car ur modifying.
but its easier with a car thats turbo already.
why else did Dan get a turbo EA ;)
