Default Exhaust Systems.

Hi guys! Never done ANYTHING to a car as far as mods go before, so here's some probably dumb questions.

I see most people have 2.5 inch cat-back systems on their cars. I just priced one for my car at $280 fitted. Brand was redback or something like that.

1. Is this a good brand and price?
2. Will this improve or reduce performance of the car?
3. Will this increase or reduce fuel consumption?

The guy at the exhaust place said it would go better, and use less fuel, but this makes no sense to me.

Apologies if these are stupid questions.

suond like a good price to me. i paid $250 and had to fit it myself. and it give quite a bit of performance depending on what exhaust you have now. my wagon had 1 cat 2 mufflers and a resonator, on it then i got a redback 2.5inch with 1 highflow muffler and that is it. then i hollowed the cat. so that was a massive increase in flow. it went from about 9 second 0-100 to flat 8 second 0-100 and could light up the back wheels in a stand still twice as easy, also definately get a red back because thay have a sweet back crackle once they're ran in

that is a very good price, it will have a performance increase, the fuel consumption may increase, it depends on how much further your right foot goes down, lol...but if you drive it grandpa style, the fuel usage should go down

1. Redback is excellent, you got a really good price.
2. An aftermarket exhaust should improve your performance as it allows some of the resistance placed on your engine by a stock exhuast to be removed thru its better flow.
3. Again, for the reasons above, less resistance means it will take less effort (fuel) to turn over the engine.
