reasons for lokka over minispool:

1: Legality
2: Easier to park
3: Less stress on axles
4: Less attention from cops
5: Less tyre wear (front and rear)
6: Better handling
7: Slower to flog out rear suspension bushes

I'm sure there are more but thats just off the top of my head.

Mini Spool: $90
Fines: $Defect + rectification
Broken bits: $start counting
Rear Bushes: $120 (guessing?)

Lokka: $600. Fit and enjoy, no extra cost

I don't think I'd like to meet a chick who would hook up with you becasue you have a spool....

She may have something in common with a spool though..They tend to thrash out their bushes.

spool:
pick up more braindead skanks $free
crash car and kill/maim said skanks driving in rain with locker $expensive+jail time
get more fullysik attention (from cops) $expensive
get to tell a cop it's a tight lsd... then get Pwn3d because they send you to the transport department anway $lots+ points off licence
get better bushes and axels $700 for a set of good axles, not possible to get bushes that wont flog out.

so its pretty much all bad
Fixed.

For someone that may or may not have passed their P plates today and from most peoples accounts did a great impression of a roulette wheel at winton the other week, probably arguing the finer points of LSD vs Lokka vs Spool might not be the smartest thing to do...

I had a mini spool in my old RX3 and it was totally insane in the wet - if you dont know how to drive and you have a mini spool in the wet then you will soon say hello to a gutter

roulette wheel? catching balls in slots? eh?

Spools are for race cars or bogan gaylords. They go great with chrome 12slotters on EAs.
BW lsds are fine if you have no powah!!!1!!!111!ONE! They work well with turboblades.....

The other option some people might consider as an alternative is the Air locker/RTV diff. Open centre for highway use, hit the switch and it locks up. Some of the BA ute guys have them.

Yeah best option would be to do a bloody R200 diff conversion out of a skyline and end up with a strong, lightweight diff that has consistent action.

But its pretty bloody expensive, just like air lockers and 9inch diff conversions. I think Lokrites are the closest youll get to a reasonably priced LSD for the Eseries.

The question was, are minispools safe for street use. And the answer is a big fat YES. If you dont understand oversteer and understeer then youre going to crash sooner than later in your "hotted up e-series", but for those of us who CAN drive its just fine.

Plus for $99 and cheap as axles you cant beat it for price.

mini spools arent even that strong. we've busted 1. go the full spool. $350, saves 6 kg of hemisphere weight and stronger than any other locker on the market.
