Yeah dextron ll or lll is recommended sometimes with an additive, like lubrizol.. but I use Penrite Gear oil 75w90 (I think) or it could be 80w95 not sure.. something around that.

Castrol Tranzmax Z + the additive is what I used to use in my EL, made the thing a bit nicer to drive.

using a mixture of Castrol Tranzmax Z + friction modifier + manual gear oil.

Ford recomend the ATF as it makes the box shift smoother at lower temps but makes it wear out quicker. So using a mixture of ATF for smooth shifting manual gear oil for all round lubrication and friction modifier to protect the syncros. This is what I have found from speaking with a number of guys that rebuild gearboxes use.

Speaking of manual gearbox's and oils, how hard is it to replace the front and rear gearbox seals of is it a pro job.

Rear is easy just a matter off getting the old one out and putting the new one in with a little bit of force never done the front one.
