Default service warning spanner

My brother recently had his AU XR8 serviced prior to it being due. The service warning spanner is currently lit up in the dash. Does anyone know how to remove it. I remember that the ignition had to be turned to on without the engine running and you pressed the demister switch, but from there my memory has gone blank!! Thanks

If its the same set up as an ef, 1)turn key to on.
)hold the odometre button for about 10seconds, or until spanner goes off
