Default Fast RWD Toyota, as ISF...

Was doing a toecut today at Curramundi when I spotted a Lexus ISF. I went over to check it out as Toyota don't make fast cars, do they?

Description if this car:

OMFG

300kw V8, 13.0 sec 400m 4.8 0-100km RWD while the interior is as good as a german saloon.

They have a demo, I am going back when it stops raining for a play.

Anyone here driven one?

8 speed automatic means you'll never be out of the power band. Problem is they say it (the gearbox) is a little too busy at times. Let us know how it stacks up.

8 speed? is that really necessary?

The numbers on the car are great though, and it looks pretty good too - much more subdued then any of the other supersaloons. i wonder if it comes in bionic?

Apparently they have a real stiff ride on the road, and the passengers get thrown around a little bit going by the Unique Cars mag review of them. But I suppose you can't have your own cake and eat it too.

Very interested in them, though I cant afford one so it bit irrelevant for me.

I however have driven the IS250 Sport Luxury and it was a very nice car, just a touch short on power, but beautifully balanced and nicely weighted steering and good seating position. So with a bit more grunt and suspension wizardry I imagine it would be pretty damn good. Ive also driven the LS460 with that 8 speed box and its a nice piece of work (the box, not the car), very smooth, though i gotta say 8 ratios is pointless the old 6 speed was fine.

Read the reviews on them, they have certainly got the mumbo and the brakes, but yeah suspension is a bit stiff and does cope with bumps well, still rates pretty well againt the new M3 and the C63 though.

If it's RWD, you'll want to test it when the rain starts.

It goes to show that Toyota CAN make "interesting" vehicles. The ISF is about half way between a GT-P and a W427 in price which would put it out of the reach of most but it is extremely luxurious with a lot of extremely high end technology.

If they got serious and made similar something in the 50k and 70k range I suspect Ford and Holden would not enjoy it.

I probably would not buy one as the nearest dealer is 200km away so servicing would be a pain and I could get maybe 80% of it in a F6-E for $80k (hint hint FPV) but it is really cool.

So no word on if the F6-E will go ahead?

Oh yeh baby, the four sprung duck dealer is accross the road. There is a RS5 coming there shortly, that should be a good toy.

For all the sunny coasters Gary Crick has a CL63 AMG Black upstairs at the merc shop on the back road to the plaza, it is just incredible (and $320k :().

Yes I have been out not buying cars again

Here's a review of it if your interested.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/19619/20...s-is-f-review/
I have seen a few around town and they look amazing in the flesh!
Go like the clappas to, wheels or motor did a review of it against the BMW E92 M3 and the Merc AMG 630. They rated it last out of the three but also said it was the best value and it wasnt the slowest.

Is that the same Lexus that the TGUK boys put up against the M5 last series?

I think so, was it the M5 Sedan vs the ISF?

A good first attempt by Lexus/Toyota at a German rivalling performance saloon.
Ride isn't that great, interior is a little on the cheap side compared to it's rivals, the exhaust while sounds good is ruined by the fake tips, the handling is so so and the gearing isn't set up correctly for this kind of car.
Still nice engine. Tuned by Yamaha.

Ah, found it. Twas an M3.

Clarkson preferred them M3 but I'd give it some seat time to make my own mind up. It does look promising. The fake tips are a bit of a turnoff, I'd have preferred they just kept them as duals.

A client of mine made the decision for the ISF instead of the C63....I thought he made the wrong decision till he brought the ISF his recent visit to my office....
Damn beautiful, conservative yet tuff ! the stance is good and my the brakes look great !
Though my nephew has the C63 and she's just a weapon,I prefer the ISF body shape but the aggro of the C63.
Either way both veryvery nice machines.

And while waiting for the females to try on every single item in several clothes shops I went out and did not buy a 370Z. Probably not a clever thing to do, 370 to 350 is sort of like FG to EL :(

But now I have a new leader in the "Most hopeless car dealer in QLD". They were not even remotely interested in TRYING to sell the car to me. And they all wonder why their sales are down. (and they are pretty low, I see monthly sales figures on the odd occaision)

I seen a 370Z yesterday. Sure it looks alright but no way would I pay the better part of $70k for one. Throw some damn turbos on it FFS!

By the way Subaru and Toyota are making a FR coupe ;)
