When was the last time it was serviced?
Any other mods to the car?

Could be issues with coolant flow to the converter.
When was the last time the thermostat was replaced ... do you have good condition coolant (and enough in it).
Is the heater core blocked ... reducing the amount of coolant flowing into the converter????

Other things to check is if the idle jet in the converter is clear/clean ... so if there is junk around the solenoid plungers in the converter as well.

Is the vehicle having issues cranking ... does it kick over after a couple of seconds or does it crank for longer???

Just a few questions really.
