Default My Monthly Car Accident..

Hey all, im just having a bit of a rant here...

I own a 2002 XR6 III ST, a stunning AU in liquid silver.

I have owned it for a year without a bingle or a ticket (im a p-plater),

About 3 months ago, i was driving out of the road i live on in eltham only to find in front me 2 gentlemen pulling trees down out the front of their house.

Ok, whatever i thought and kept driving as there were no signs, no warnings and no one telling me to stop, so i drove slowly through....next thing i new a tree had fallen across my windscreen damaging the A-piller, bonnet, all 4 doors, both front quarter panels, destroyed the windscreen and damaged the dash.

I was in shock however i was just more curious as to what had happened then i was angry...anyway the old fella running the show said he was incredibly sorry and told me to quote up the repairs and give him the bill...he obviously realised that he could get in alot of trouble for removing trees on council land without a permission and using a truck to pull them down instead of cutting them...

So to wrap that story up, $13,500 later the ENTIRE car got resprayed thanks to some co-operation from AMEX body repair. I was wrapped, it looked brand new!!!!!

Now...2 months ago i was driving down a main road in greensborough, when a indian fellow decided to not give way out of his street and collided into the side of my car, leaving a 2 metre long red scratch and dent. I actually was in a state of rage this time and attempted to rip him out of his car, however realising what this would do to my claim, i just stopped and behaved calmly. I then found out he had no license and no insurance. Coppers and RACV handled that for me...

$4000 later It was fixed and looking micky again!!!

Yesterday....i was sitting at an intercection waiting for the lights to turn green, when a old granny loses her vision, crosses over the median strip, heads down the wrong side of the road, into the side of my car....i had to climb out of my window this time as my door was sealed shut by her car.

Back to the panel shop again...its just not a month without a car accident for me. No one has been injured in these accidents

Shame our roads aren't very safe are they...

God damn!!!

I live not too far away (Reservoir). Thanks for the heads up, I'll be twice as careful when driving through the 'borough!!

Do you have any pics of the 3 accidents. Would be great if you could upload some pics.

Oh man, that's some terrible luck mate. Just reading what happened to you got me all angry! Like you said, at least nobody got hurt, which is the most important thing.

I love the XR6 ST's, would have loved to have gotten my hands on one!!!

I can only think about when the time does come for you to get another car, the chances of you selling this one privately aren't great, given it's been in 3 separate accidents......

i get the same car luck mate

- had a bunch of debris (roof tiles & hunks of metal) fall off the back of a truck in front of me, no way to avoid it...few scratches about the place & 4 tyres flat. - he got away - never found him
- car floored it in reverse right in front of me at lights for some reason - front bumper, grill, both headlights & radiator were all rooted - then he took off, never found him
- bricks thrown at me, smashing my windscreen - kids, ran off - never found them
- tail light smashed in franklins car park just before xmas, never saw it, just came back to smashed tail.
- left rear door dented in badly by towbar....never saw it, no note

none of them were my fault...and none of the people responsible stopped & left note or anything.

all in the space of 3 years. but at least i learned how to repair a few things...dunno what all this cost me

Thanks for the replies guys :p

ill try track down the pics from the previous smacks.

The car is being sold shorty after its repaired again as a heads up..Its hard though, its such a nice car, its so fast and solid.

What frustrates me is some insurance companies base your insurance cost on total number of claims (regardless of fault), in my case, that would be 6 claims, 2 at fault, it was hard enough to find insurance for the xr6 4 months ago, im paying 3-4 grand a year under my existing contract....

off me soap box now.

Mate! That's a horrible run with your car.

I'm glad you're okay, especially after having to climb out your window! That one could have easily been so much worse.

As much as these incidents hack us off (man I hate getting bird poo on my cars, mik is right. Cars can be fixed or replaced.

I trust that your run with the next vehicle is much, much better.

Y'know, there's something to be said for that. Most people will pass it off as BS, but i'm not so sure. After seeing a whole fleet of identical AU taxis, some just got hit more than others. We had one car that got hit 9 times in 23 months, yet you'd occasionally get some troopers go over half a million kays without a single hit. I came to think some cars just simply have something about them, and i don't know what it is...

Had a few hits with cattle, buffalos and once an elephant.

Yeah thats right NC Lane. I dunno what it is, but these coincidences happened far too often and in far too regular a pattern for them to be just plain coincidences!
