Code 33 is not a short circuit.

Code 33 indicates Passenger Side Airbag open circuit.

No open circiut is the complete opposite to a short circuit, mine is flashing 33 to which i understand is open circuit passenger side air bag, its an intermintent fault, seems to start flashing after an hour or so of driving, car will be at mechanics later today on an unrelated problem, next door is the auto electrician, will be chatting to him, will keep you posted

Ok after checking and rechecking, cleaning and re cleaning with contact cleaner all the plugs in the circuit that i could find, I bit the bullet and pulled out the passenger seat, the pretennsioner is an unserviceable item, so replaced it, touch wood problem is fixed, all up to remove seat and replace pretennisioner took 30 min cost $30 all you need is a number 5 torx bit. hope your problem is as easy fixed and mine stays fixed of course!!!!!!

yes mate the buckle, bit, the pretennioner is one complete unit, take the seat out disconnect the wires unbolt the unit and bolt in another one, if you get one from a wrecker, plug it in before you drive off, and check that the dash dosen't flash

Hey guys, my XR8 has the same problem, its only occasional and as silly as it sounds it always happens to be a case of wiggling the wires under the seat and its good as gold.
