What a low dog act. Such a targeted attack has to be very personal. Somebody wanted the owners to suffer A LOT. In cases of cruelty and assault I reckon it should be an eye for an eye. Same with those that start bushfires, tie them to a tree in front of an oncoming fire and let them get a real close look at the reality of what they do.

not sure if it was targeted but I guess it could have been, they were show quality, lovely little horses with a very trusting manner, with at least one worth $100,000.

I just can't fathom what drives a person to do this.....wasn't that long ago it was the flamingo in the Adelaide zoo, over 70 year old and they had to bash the poor bloody thing with sticks.

Apparently a couple of the staff from the miniature horse stud had to be hospitalised, they were so traumatised upon finding the carnage.

to me only some one that enjoys killing could do something like this, whether or not that its trying to be justified as a grudge, not that im condoning any type of grudge action but to go to this extreme

Yep, quite sick i would suspect. Really turned my stomach. The Missus and i own a couple of ponies and we would be just devestated if they had to suffer something like that, the poor wee buggers, so terrifying for them.....

Any animal lover would be sickened by this, I had a tear in my eye watching the poor owners relate the tale to the news folk.

Lovely little things, wouldn't hurt a fly.

Who ever did this must be removed from society asap. They are dangerous. My thoughts are with the carers of these animals.
pottery, your info adds a twist to the story (a sad twist) but cruelty to animals is not on.

What a horrendous and dispicable act on a group of harmless and defenceless animals. When they catch the lowlife maggots who did this they should be tortured for several days and then shot.

ah! okay there is more to this story than I was able to read, I have read it today, I can concentrate a bit more and the page doesn't go all smeary quite so much, I gotta get new glasses, these ones mist up in cases like this.

my question is still WHY.....if someone has a problem against another person what the hell has it got to do with the pony's, okay I get they were getting at her but to kill them in this manner beggars belief.

what sort of person would be capable of this act and what would he do next given he is capable of this atrocity.

surely if or when this goes in front of the beak it would be worthy of more than "cruelty to animals".

I read about this.

All I'll say is this: if someone did something like this to one of my cats (the monetary value means **** to me in this instance tbh; and anyone that knows me know that my cats are the easiest way to get to me) they'd want to hope to hell that I never catch them.

not surprised, customers are talking about "public flogging or hanging the mongrels".

big outcry against animal cruelty of this magnitude......absolutely disgusting.

I find this line of thinking to be erroneous. Just because a person harms animals does not mean they would do the same to a human. They do need to be severely punished but you are advocating that they be shot dead presumably?

Agreed we kill 3400 cattle a day by slashing their throat, but wouldn't even think of doing it to a human.

I think you guys are getting closer. Someone who works close with animals is obviously where the cops are looking. I.e. Slaughterhouse or farm. The neighbours would be under a fair degree of scrutiny...

there is quite a lot of evidence that suggests people who hurt animals for "fun" do indeed move onto people at a later time. Well documented in psychology & criminology studies

this is very personal. somebody wanted to make a point, no way is this a random thing. Hope they get the scumbags soon

seem's to always be the way nowadays, the perpetrator is always "downtrodden" and worthy of mercy.
