Does anybody on here build websites? I would like to update ours into a simple but reasonable website. I have a domain name and a one page 'placeholder' site at the moment but would like to go a bit further with it.

To be honest you can do it yourself really easy, most webhosts offer templates and other such features as part of hosting plans, it really is as easy as posting on these forums or facebook.

Very true. I showed my technically illiterate father weebly.com and he created a great website. I helped him plug in PayPal and build a simple online sales mechanism. Wix is another one that comes to mind.

Throw Wordpress into the mix as well. Dead easy to create a site, you can pick from many pre built templates and ther are endless plugins for just about everything you would need, shopping carts, payment gateways, Facebook/twitter/LinkedIn integration etc
There are even companies that specialise in building Wordpress sites for businesses. Build it on Worpress' own site, then look for WP hosting, it's (everywhere) then set up your DNS to point to it and your up and running. Whichever way you go, make sure it's built on a CMS (content management system), you will then have the ability to manage your own content rather than having to have others change it typically, for a cost. |
