Ford Offset

Hi Guys, just did a quick search and couldnt find to much but I could be wrong

Wondering what offset and PCD my ford EF Futura will be?

PCD is 5x114.3mm (or 4.5"). Offset is a function of wheel width.

All Falcon's up to AU the same. AU-BA have more +ve offset.

would wheels off a soarer/supra fit? the stud pattern is the same im just concerned about the offset if anyone knows the offset difference?. Cheers.

Well just rang my tyre guy and got him to look it up for me and the PCDs are fine but offsets are quiet different, EF has +6 Offset and the Soarers have a +38 so dont think they will be going on somehow bummer

Yeah, pre AU falcons have a very unique offset so virtually nothing you find on any other car is going to fit.

Just about every Ford from the US has the same offset as Pre AU, now with the free trade agreement it may be worth investigating importing some decent wheels.....

Very interesting. I didn't realise Falcons were 114.3. It means with an adaptor/spacer you can run any of the fancy Jap car mags etc. Would need to be a pretty big adaptor though.

jack i believe the AU onto Eseries adapter works fine with the jap wheels

Yeah it means I can occasionally use the BBS on the EA in the future if I need to. There's many thousands to be spent before the rest of the car would live up to it though.

I always thought Falcons had some weird PCD but adaptors are the answer to all life's problems.

Yep, just for the record the specs of the new rims are 5x114.3 (as per Falcon) and 42 mm offset, compared to 6 for the Falcon. So with a 36-odd mm adaptor we're in business. Even if it's out by several mm it shouldn't cause any problems.

Actually I can't think of a good reason why this isn't done more commonly. Whilst the BBS wheels are damn pricey, you can get heaps of Jap car 17s, 18s etc for next to nothing and the adaptors are merely $500 or so...

no, not without an adapter...... which will void your insurance if you use them.....

And the fact that it is asking for a defect notice as the use of spacers on the street is illegal. That is why they are not used more regularly. I had to use 8mm spacers on my BA until I could sort out new wheels to fit over my upgraded brakes, I will never do it again. Trying to get the front to stop shuddering was impossible, new wheels that fit now and the shudder is gone. I would not suggest it.

there is a big difference between spacers and adapters...

spacers have holes in them, and slip over the wheel nuts. to space the wheel out, this takes the wheel off the center lip of the hub, making the whole weigth of the car rest on the wheel studs them selves......which is very dangerous

wheel adapters are different, they are a seccond hub basically, they bolt to the cars hub via the wheel nuts, and have a full set of 5 wheel studs mounted in them, with the same lip as on the hub of the car.

this allows the wheel to seat propperly, and not strain the cars or the adapters studs...

they are used widely in porsche racing, so must be safe to take that kind of load...

i would have no qualms with using them on my car, but the worry of having my insurance voided is whats stopping me.

not too sure on victoria but in s.a im pretty sure your allowed to use adaptors, i thought soarers had the same PCD as commodore, correct me if im wrong, but i was going to buy a set of bbs rims of a soarer once but they didnt line up. skylines have got the same as falcons though... seen XF GHIA rims on a R33... tool.

spacers shouldnt cost more then $400 even then your paying top dollar for them.
