Default Headlight covers

Anyone know where I can get the headlight covers that have the black outline on them from? And it's practical, not for looks. The Bruce Highway throws up all sorts of crap that scratches bonnets and the like.

Mate give your local auto supplier from memory Aunger(sp?) make the ones with a tinted section around the extremity of the headlight lenses. They retail about $65, hope this helps.

I had no headlight protectors on my au and removed the bonnet protector probably done about 30,000km on the bruce without them in the last year and not one single scratch and iv followed all sorts of dodgy vehicles.

What is the point of protecting polycarbonate lights with polycarbonate headlight protectors? Aunger make the ones with the black outline, and in addition to being mildly useful in actually protecting the headlight, they do make the lights look better - especially if you also paint the bezel black (see AUFalcon . com for instructions on how to do that).

On the subject of AU H/lights. On my Ghia the surround on the inside is chrome but I've seen other AU's are silver painted . I thought they were all the same execpt the T series. So did the Ghias have chrome on the inside only?

I doubt it buickman. My AU Forte lights are a very shiny silver, but not chrome.

I've seen 3 different factory headlights from Ford on the AU's XR excluded.

1: The TS type black outs

2: The Chrome type like on my AU1 Ghia

3: At work there are 2 AU3 Futura's with a painted dull goldie silver inside surrounds

I really didn't take any notice until one of the company AU3 Futura's parked next to mine. I thought execpting the T series they were all the same.

So that means if you crack 1 down the track you have to chase up the one's that suit your car. What a dumb idea you would think to save costs to keep them all 1 type. I bet thier all different prices as well. The one in second pic is the same colour as the AU3 Futura's

yep , thats exactly what they are..

ford did do some wierd stuff and mix em up a bit though, putting chrome in things you'd expect to be silver,
it catches us out sometimes when we only supply one light instead of a pair,...

then ya get panel beaters that go nah its chrome mate (but theyve only looked at the reflector itself and not the insert - which happens to be silver....)

ugh au headlights are a pain!

yep they are, excep for all AU1 headlights had the wiring loom built into the light, where all AU2/AU3 except XR and Fairlane had the wiring loom as a seperate item attached to the car

We had to have one replaced on our AU II Mont and they put a Forte one in without the orange indicator lense, it looked stupid but they ended up ordering the right one the next time.

thats often the panel beaters fault not the headlight supplier....
it falls back on them giving the supplier wrong information....

when you want to remove the headlight (not the globe) from the car, the loom for series 1, xr, and fairmont plug into the car about where the grille is...... and you remove the headlight WITH the loom

on series 2, you disconnect the loom off each globe and where the parklight goes, and remove the headlight WITHOUT the loom
