Default Removing EF Wagon Fuel Pump

How do i remove the fuel pump on a ef fairmont wagon, my dad reckons he has tried and cant get it out without dropping the tank is this right?? and should the fuel lines just pull off?? :

Hey mate, not true. You can remove the pump with the tank in and even the tyre still on. Depending how low yer rear suspension is, you may need to jack up the rear.
All u need to do is grab some big pliers and grasp the metal locking ring and turn counter-clockwise. May need to tap the ring in that direction using a flat blade screwdriver. Once the ring is off, the pump just pulls out. Make sure yer tank is near empty tho!!!! Also when fitting the pump back in, use a new seal if its worn otherwise the fuel will seap out.
