Default 3.9 to 2.0

i am thinking of selling the falcon up and getting an escort with a rb20det motor in it, or ether keep the falcon ang get an escort too as a project, its just the petrol is killing me in the falcon and i think its time for a little escort, much lighter smaller manual and cheeper to run, has any one got anything to say good or bad about my disition, its a hard one for me to make so i would like the opinion of people that have had the cars and what they have done,

LPG LPG LPG LPG LPG

Get a 2nd hand kit with tank indate

Install the tank youself
get new copper lines install under car
Make bracket if not already one for coverter
Plumb the water lines in yourself

Get the installer to wire it up, plumb the gas lines and stamp it

Yeh id go lpg...

For $5 in gas in my old XF, would go as far as $10 petrol in my 1.5L datto 5 speed.

You can get kits for around 200-400 with in date tanks. And do what frost said.

still though escorts are sik, but unless u are getting a 2.0lt one its pointless, and the 2.0lt ones arent much cheaper to run than a falcon. the weber 32-36 carbie is almost as big as the 250x flow carbie.

I'd be very surprised if you could fit an RB20 in an escort. They are still a 6 cyl, the same size block as the RB30 (all RB series engines same block casting). So I doubt you would fit it. I have seen a few SR20's and CA18's in esky's if you wanted to head the nissan motor route, but dont forget, you get anything with boost and you wont be much better off than the N/A 6. Then you will have extra insurance costs too being turbo, and will probably be at a premium due to the custom conversion.

Like the other said, spend some money on a decent gas setup, such as Gas Research or something similar in straight gas setup and get it tuned properly with valvesaver setup on the head so you dont have to run fuel. Be cheaper to run, and will end up costing you far less than buying another car and doing engine conversions etc.

Well I guess I can get a SR20DET in it I like the old escorts and wanted one for some time, there smaller and lighter and with a sr20 would go quite well, iv seen it done before and I like the size of the car. Im thinking of having both cars falcon and escort while I fix it all up and new motor, but gas means less boot room and less power, might get one and do it up in my spare time

am SR20 in an escort would have heaps of potential. if you put enough money into that thing it could pull some serious times.

why people put other manufacturers engines in is beyond me. The pinto can hammer if you have the cash.

Id buy a laser or something if you are worried about fuel.

fules not a huge consern, im just looking for somthing that can be good on fuel but hammer like the SR20 motor, it would put out better times then any i6 falcon due to the weight they weigh like 950kgs' and the cornering would be ace

There was an orange MkII Esky at the All Ford Day in Adelaide with an XF 250 stuffed into it. Needless to say the firewall was somewhat modified (I wonder if it could be engineered :P), but holy damn what an animal!

SR20s have been done before so you should be able to find some info on these. Of course, be prepared to spend $$$, which will kind of go against the whole economical side of things.

Why not source a turbo Laser, or a 2.0 Escort and look into the hot NA/turbo setups that can be done?

Sell the Falcon and get a factory manual ED and a road/trail bike. Then you'll have the falcon you want (by that I mean a manual) and the bike is more fuel efficient than an escort. That solves both your problems.
