Default Question re Tickford equiptment

Iam about to purchase an AU XR6 (either 2001 or 02 ) and Iam wondering where you purchase the Tickford rims and products, Iam assuming through FPV, is this right? I have seen some XR6's with the Tickford 5 spoke rims and others the factory Ford rims.I have done several searches and have failed to get the info I hoped for. Iam new to all this (finally parting with my XF Fairmont Ghia) and appreciate some help from those of you in the know. Thanks guys.

I think you would be lucky to find anything of tickford now at dealerships. Tickford Wing Badges are almost gone and no more tickford branded snorkel's. Floor mats I believe are long gone. Best bet now is to buy 2nd hand parts. They are a lot floating around these forums and on Ebay. You can find new parts on Ebay

If your after the rims, you could try spares, you might be lucky. Wheel King I believe stock the rims your after. They are in melbourne. These will be new.

Good luck.

There are a lot better rims out there than the AU2 XR/VY Calais style 17" rim. Aftermarket are usually cheaper, as well as giving you a much wider range.

Here is one AU2 XR 17" rim:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AU-XR8-Ford-F...QQcmdZViewItem

Then there's a set of these, AU1 TE50 rims (17"):

I thought the shape was different. Have you got a pic of your BA mats? I keep checking ebay for the AU mats.

The BA floor pan is different to the AU. So BA mats won't fit perfectly in an AU. They might still go in, just won't be the right size.

AFAIK, you can still get T-Series & maybe XR Mats from Ford still.

I'm after a really nice set of carpet mats too.

I'm thinking of getting a set off eBay, and doing some small modifications to it. Stiching & logo etc.

Im also after a nice set of fitted AU1 mats.

Standard ford ones are $142.45 for the set from Thompson Ford, Parramatta, and the tickford ones are $306.95 for the pair.

Can someone post a pic of the tickford ones please ? Or does anyone have a set they want to sell ? Either tickford or ford...

Thanks

The AU ones I have was the last set and they gave them to me for $100. RRP at the time was $190. I've worn a hole in mine, so i would like to replace them.

Have a look at the photo's of the last Heathcote drag day, pic 118.
I already have these on the car but all 5 of them have gutter scrapes (previous owner obviously could not park or give a rats)
I'm lucky, still have not seen another XR with these rims on, makes it stand out from the others.

They are not common on XRs, but I know of one other Galaxy blue XR6 that has those T series wheels. They do look good, but in 17's, are just too small these days.

It's her car, she wanted the other rims repaired but now she has 4 new ones.
She has also had her say about the colour that SHE wants on MY ZB fairlane :
After improving on her 1/4 mile times, she has well & truly got the bug!

Don't worry i was sweating, thought the other bloke bidding was never going to give up. Only had another $50 to my limit.
The freight cost to W.A would have been a killer!

Goran, I'm going to see if they will fit/look like on my ZB Fairlane, if not I'll get them repaired and may sell them.

To all you guys wanting floor mats, there is a fellow at the Berwick market who has a stall selling floor mats, seat covers etc. We bought a full set for the XR (2 fronts, 1 piece rear) with a stiched on ordinary "ford" oval for way under $100, I think he also does them with the "XR" logo. They may not be genuine but the price and quality are good. Have not had a problem with the front mats as they are moulded and do not move around. If any of you are interested I can pick up a set for you as I am in the inner west/ northern suburbs twice a week and can possibly drop them off. I'll try and get some pics up.
