Default Car Stalling + Now Overheating

As some of you know, i've had a problem with my car stalling when first started in mornings.

Well yesterday I walked out front at 5am like usual, started my car 3 times (arrrggghhh) and went back inside for a coffee and smoke.

Came out 15minutes later, jumped in my car and ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE.

What the F*^*k is that beepin noise. Coolant temperature at 124^C and rising.

I also noticed when i raced my mate round mt panorama for 5 laps yesterday arvo, the temperature only rose to 92^C which is where the thermostat cuts in.

So why the hell is it overheating while idling in ZERO degree temperatures at 5am, but i can thrash the out of it around the mount and not have a prob.

I also noticed when we pulled up at the end that a few minutes later the temp started to skyrocket.

Does anyone know wtf is going on?

Sounds like your thermo fans are not turning on. While you are moving you have airflow through the radiator which is keeping it all cool but standing still you have no airflow and it overheats. Check that your thermo fans are working.

So if i go outside right njow and start my car the thermo fans should kick in right?

Curent coolant temp is 95^C, it was only just boiling.

yeah thats an idea too. I flushed my radiator a week ago and filled it up with water. Completely forgot till now, it does appear though that my thermo's arent working. I spose its time to get the multi meter backout again (sigh)

Only time I've EVER heard the thermos on my AU V8 start is 40C days with the A/C blasting and my wife towing a double horsefloat. Normally the damn thing will sit anywhere and idle all day without them coming on .... as apposed to my SV8 which the kick in every few minutes (very annoying!!)

Turn on the A/C and switch the blower fans to high and the thermo's should come on regardless of temp.

Might be the actual thermostat is sticking or buggered and not opening when the engine reaches temp, sounds alot like it ! .

Suggestions are most welcome around here! They cost us nothing, just a few moments tapping the keyboard, but oh how they can assist in diagnosing a problem!

ok, well i'm damned if i know why the thermo's arent kickin in. I'm reasonably sure it isnt the thermostat as i can see when it opens the coolant temp will drop from 92*C down to about 85*C then start building up again. I'll try turning the A/C on and blower fans up see what that does. I'll get back to ya's

I guess you can at least be thankful that your problem is taking place in Winter! LOL!

Imagine the problems you'd have had in Summer!

KUP (keep us posted), I really want to know what's going on now!! LOL!

When we got our au wagon back from the local ford dealer, coming down the driveway the temp was going up and up, turned out they did not connect them back up after fixing a leak.
