how do i know if my 99au fairy is irs or not tried looking underneath to see but not sure wat im looking for

Try looking for Watts Linkage, if you've got that, no IRS.

And it sounds like you're confused - upper and lower control arms (another name for wishbones) is EXACTLY what IRS is about. Maybe you meant upper and lower trailing links - this is what the Watts rear end uses.

syktlr> Look under the back of your car - if you see a solid beam going from one side to the other, and carrying the diff in the centre, and with a Pivot mount on the diff carrying two locating rods then you are looking at a Watts link rear end.
