Hay, ive been driving my Forte for almost a year now and its done all together about 280 000km's (most k's done by previous owner).
I started my car up for work this morning at 3:30am, and because it was really really cold I let it sit there for a few mins while I waited outside eating my breakfast. But while I was eating, I heard a really really wierd noise comming out of my exhaust, as if there is a hole somewhere along the pipe or mufflers (im not sure). When I put my foot down on the throttle, it really becomes obvious that there must be a break or something somewhere because it sounds louder and gives off a rattly growl when I slow down using the shift gears. I really dont like it, as it sounds bad, and I bet people walking by when they hear it think "what an idiot, I bet he put holes in his muffler trying to make it louder"... So how would I go about finding the hole or break or what ever it might be? Because I cant squeeze under my car to see it. Where should I take it? Exhaust shop? (I dont want a new pipe or muffler because at the moment, I dont have enough money... I just want something to cover up the break) Any help would be nice, thanks! |

Im not sure how to find the holes, but you ca pick up some exhaust 'tape' that covers these kinda holes in the exhaust or muffler... Around $20 from repco.

the pipe could also have broken off at the front of the resonator or one of the other mufflers, if this is the case you will have to get a new exhaust, even if its only cat to axle if the rear pipe is ok....as they suggested get a mate or someone to help you first then you can figure out what it is without paying anything till you have to
