Nice for now. Will go back up to high 1.30's by Wednesday night at usual. Pretty sad when we find 1.25 cheap for petrol.

I truly hope it does fo down to 1.15 by years end! Highly doubt it though!

Petrol Forecast to Drop to $1.15
http://www.news.com.au/business/stor...04-462,00.html

August 28, 2006 12:37pm

MOTORISTS will be handed a welcome Christmas present with the price of petrol to drop to $1.15 by the festive season, a prominent economist has predicted.

Commsec chief equities economist Craig James says with increased supply of crude oil and an easing of tensions in the Middle East, motorists could enjoy a price drop at the pump of as much as 25 cents by Christmas.

"More oil is on the way, global oil companies are investing vast sums and the US economy is slowing," Mr James said in his oil market summary.

"If geopolitical fears ease and there is less disruptive hurricane activity in the Gulf of Mexico, Australian motorists could see pump prices of unleaded petrol around $1.15 a litre by Christmas."

"There are a lot of ifs in his prediction and chief among those is the northern hurricane season."

Mr James said the increased oil supply would come from nations outside the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

"The International Energy Agency expects non-OPEC oil production to rise by 1.9 million barrels per day or 3.7 per cent in 2007, the biggest percentage lift in production since 1984," Mr James said.

While Mr James has offered short-term hopes for motorists, his long term forecast was much more sobering.

"Much of the increased oil production coming on stream in coming years will be from politically less stable regions such as Africa, Latin America and Nigeria," he said.

"So geopolitical risks will be a constant source of angst in the oil market."

Mr James' prediction is in line with that of Prime Minister John Howard who earlier this month predicted the petrol price would settle.

"We hope that we're not in an era of ever-rising petrol prices and perhaps somewhere in between where that settles, $1.15, $1.20, there's some hope of that, but once again in the medium term," Mr Howard told the Ten Network on August 6.

what happened to the $1.80 prediction? $1.15 sounds great but im not getting my hopes up, im almost 100% sure they'll change their decision again to something like $2 a litre!!

i guess all we can do is sit back and wait!! or proberly a better idea is to get off our a$$'s and do some work and prepare for the worst!! at least then if petrol does go down we can spend all our money on more petrol!!which pretty much means showing off our rides to the public!!
