Default Replacing receiver/dryer

Has anyone tried replacing their receiver/dryer in the a/c system?
The problem is one of the fittings has a spring type fitting that most likely needs a special tool !!!!
Anyone know what they look like or can you just pry the spring out to get the pipes apart?
