Thumbs up boss V8 EXHAUST NOISE

IS THE GT EXHAUST DIFFERANT TO THE XR8 EXHAUST ( BA) ? MY GT SOUNDS BLOODY GREAT WITH ITS STANDARD EXHAUST FITMENT. i dont know why or if they can sound better if so what makes an aftermarket exhaust sound better? i will admit this the exhaust sounds better from inside the car than outside so i'm probably hearing a fair bit of induction noise. :hihi:

The Exhaust is the same on the XR8.The GT may have a slightly deeper note due to the higher comp and slightly lumpier cams. But you aren't wrong the BOSS motor is by far the best sounding FORD motor with injection.

And the 3" difillipo system you have on your GT Alex is one of the best sounding systems around!

While your car does sound great stock, you will gain a bit more torque and power throughout the rev range by changing to a good set of headers...the stock ones are fiddly looking short things in comparison and any less restriction on the gases exiting the motor will always help

Then a good catback system can make it sound the part too

I like the way you clarified that Alex "With Injection (tm)".

We all know what a decent ford V8 sounds like with a Carburettor.

cool. what about a helical spacer and cold air induction . do you think just these mods would make a noticable differance?

They will a bit...the helical spacer adds a bit more torque down low, there is more info on them on the BPT website which have proven to be the best ones at the moment

As for cai, there are quite a few threads on them and the different sorts. Lately the trend has been for the monaro-style airboxes that G & D performance have done, along with a few others with similar ideas. They have got good results with them. There is a few threads about that sort of mod in the G & D sponsor section and the 5.4 Tech section. A good cai will give you good airflow and less restriction into the motor, just as the headers do on the way out.

I'de say you will notice the cai more so than the spacer

Heh! I remember the thread not too long ago about the best sounding injected V8. I actually didn't rate the BOSS too highly, but funnily enough a white BA GT hammered past me one night soon after and I nearly died... Gimme...

Or you could try the Herrods products, the Ford enhancement specialist, they cater for everything.Check them out in the sponsors section.
Cheers John

Remember without any edit or tune the bolt ons will only show up nicely on a dyno. The BA's torque management will be sure to remove the fun from the mods on the road, get the edit and replace the value 1 with 0 under torque management!

sorry im a noobie, but what exactly does this mean? that someone has found a way around the torque limiters in the factory ecu? sorry if you feel this is a hi-jack from the original topic...

Capa import the flash tuner from the states, it basically overwrites the BA program with a custom one that can be used to control all the engines funtions. Around 10% of the Ford XR6 Turbo forum members are running it instead of the piggy back option (Unichip etc). APS are currently developing their own edit for the same purpose.

It not only turns off the torque control, it allows you to tune the engine with furel and spark timing, also if you get a lumpy cam in your boss, it can take major advantage of that as well.

Some GTs are making over 260rwkws with the edit and exhaust. But they are still in the early days, running only 13s in this tune. They are looking for 12s.

The XR6 Turbos are making around 240rwkw with just the edit alone, usually valve spring and injector limited. Once again these cars are running low 13s. You can just buy the flash tuner (litel black box) and upload the software yourself in about 2mins flat. It will give you a self learning tune that has the torque management turned off, or you can get it dyno tuned with a custom map for your car and you can upload and download the tume when ever you like. Such as for a warrently claim.

Check out the CAPA website.

While I agree with Yoot in regard to the edit etc but I would discourage the practice of reseting the standard tune for warranty claims. Ford do not warrant rechiped cars for a good reason....if you mod its on your head...not Fords.

In Stock form I reckon the T3 has a better exhaust note than the GT

Too bad, Ford should have thought about that when they ignore brake shudder across the range and say its normal, or when diffs sound like they are missing teeth and they say its normal, or when Turbos over boost and they said it was normal, or when handbrakes don't hold on any hill, and they say its normal, or when power steering shudders like a mother and they say its normal.

Normal my ****, if I grenade my gear box or clutch or diff, and my car comes back stock, they are replacing it. I am just getting what they owe me back. :

That is nosense, and whilst I dont for a moment believe Ford are always spotless in their dealings, what you are proposing is simply theft and its the reason manufactures often take such a hard line on every claim, including those who unlike yourself will make a claim honestly. You have trade practice laws in your favour in any dispute with a vendor.

If you favour an eye for an eye style of dealing then you may be more comfortable in any one of a range of middle eastern countries, they seem to favour such dealings.

What they don't know won't hurt them, and its not as simple as you thing. Have a look at the poor blokes with lemons. They even go so far as to get their cases shown on ACA etc, and it does nothing to improve their situation.

The door swings both ways, they'll stiff me where they can, as I will them. Besides its not like FoMoCo doesn't make money. :

Mate I feel sorry for you. You expect Ford to warranty a totally different car to what they manufacture, if you cant cant see the difference good luck to you. But you are taking the rest down with ya.
