Hello,
Has anyone changed there brake pads as yet?? If so what brand/cost? Im currently on 43000kms (had service 2 weeks ago) and feel the pads are on there way out. There is like no grinding noises or anything, just i have to apply more pressure to the pedal for the car to stop. It feels too spongy compared to the families toyota starlet. (obviously deifferent cars. but u only have to touch it and the brakes are on). Any thoughts?

Do some research on Lucas pads- they get very good reviews on price vs performance. Ferodo DS2500's or Bendix Ultimates would be two others worth a look for hard drivers.
Whilst I've had Greenstuffs (and liked them) I think there are better buys out there. PS: sounds like a brake fluid change and bleed could help out with the spongey feel. ;)

Damo - I think you still have plenty of pad life left (without asking how hard you brake tho!). Mine felt a little spongy from about 45K km on, and after much mucking around I discovered plenty of pad life left, and I am now on about 65K km and still on the OE pads.
My driving style... I usually go for at least a weekly fang (Brooklyn to Berowra on old Pac Hwy) or back of Hills district, so the brakes do get a bit of a work out. I was looking at the Greenstuffs as well, but that was in the absence of knowing about alternatives. Thanks to murcod, will look at the Ferodos and Ultimates when its time... probably soon
