Default Xc fairmont lh mirror position

Hi I have an Xc fairmont 78 and have recently got a set of original mirrors as previous owner put flat style on it. My question is the rh mirror has remote and is in correct position but the lh mirror sits about 3cm further back than rh mirror is this normal as the holes are original or is it a factory f### up as all others I've seen sit same spot as my rh one?

Yes it should sit further back than the right one.
